Scavenging and rummaging through cyberspace in between living and blogging. The Pseudo ExpatWelcome to my tumblr. |
And made history.
Enough said.

I’ve been blogging a little too much about So You Think You Can Dance lately and neglecting the other parts that The Pseudo Expat is about: single parenting and Christianity. There was a Filipina on…
“It’s been a sobering night,” Nigel said after Mollee and Nathan labored through their Salsa number.
They were the second to the last couple to perform tonight, as So You Think You Can Dance is down…
I’m ashamed to admit I used to clock in an average of 10,000 steps per day on my pedometer when I lived in Manila. It was when we didn’t have a car and had to walk, walk, walk, to jeepney stands, bus stops, tricycle stands, so clocking in 7,500-12,000 steps per day was easy.
Since moving back to the U.S., there’s hardly been any reason to walk because we haven’t lived in cities that are pedestrian-friendly. Cities that are easily walkable and public transportation-filled. Combine a comfortable desk job and car rides everywhere and you can imagine how big my behind has gotten.
(I’ll spare us both any photographic evidence.)
Our apartment in Nashville is 3.2 miles from the office so I’ve always thought that it would be easy to get back into my walking routine.
Today was the day that would begin my journey back to 10,000 steps per day.
And so it began.
I put my clothes and purse in a backpack and head off to work on foot at 8:00AM with a thirty minute podcast preaching on Faith filling my ears. Close to a mile later, my knees started to buckle and I started tripping on uneven cement and tiny rocks. I was exhausted.
But the weather was gorgeous and I hadn’t broken a sweat so I figured I’d keep going, pushing away thoughts of texting my neighbor to ask him to pick me up from the side of the rode.
“Thelma! Thelma!” Came the woman’s voice. I looked to the car wash on my left. It was a colleague from work. “You want a ride?”
“Yeeeees! Please!” I laughed.
I looked down at my pedometer.

Not bad. Not great but not bad.
Let’s see if I can do it again tomorrow.
The stage is starting to grow on us. The backdrops complement the dances. Great touch!
Nigel kicked things off announcing that Fox and Dick Clark Productions agreed that Billy Bell could return next…
I felt like such a grown up yesterday morning last week. I went to a Chamber of Commerce breakfast to catch Southwest Airlines’ Manager of Emerging Media, Paula Berg, talk about… emerging media,…
I jumped on the vampire bandwagon.
